195 countries have signed the Paris Agreement at the end of last year, pledging to hold our planet’s average temperature rise at well below 2 ℃ and striving to limit it to no more than 1.5℃. Surely, this agreement is a response to the cruel reality which the world is facing : humans are powerless in the face of climatic catastrophes and we are already being surrounded by many tragedies arising from climate change.
We need a “revolution” to bring us all into the new era of ‘zero-carbon economy’.
Whether this ‘revolution’ will succeed hinges on our determination and creativity. ‘Zero Carbon Inno-Day: Sustainable Living 2016’ is a full-day event jointly organized by (COIL) and “Project Flame” of the City University of Hong Kong. A wide range of fascinating activities have been arranged to showcase various innovative ideas to tackle the challenges of climate change. Sweden has just announced its plan to go ‘carbon-neutral’ by 2045, while Britain intends to enshrine its zero-carbon emission target in the law. Hong Kong people are known to be smart and highly adaptable to changes. Hence, it’s time for a ‘Zero-Carbon Revolution’ in Hong Kong!
