What is your New Year resolution? This year, Facebook chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg decided to read a new book every two weeks as Cynthia Greco, the Audience Development Manager for MediaOnePA/York Newspaper Company suggested him to read a new book every month.
“I’m excited for my reading challenge. I’ve found reading books very intellectually fulfilling. Books allow you to fully explore a topic and immerse yourself in a deeper way than most media today. I’m looking forward to shifting more of my media diet towards reading books,” Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook page.
As a kick-start, Zuckerberg began his new year challenge by reading The End Of Power by Moisés Naím, a book which illustrates how the world shrifts as to empower individuals. As soon as Zuckerberg posted about the book on his Facebook page, the book became a top-20 bestseller on Amazon.
Zuckerberg also invited its Facebook followers to follow his New Year challenge as he created a Facebook page called “A Year of Books”, where Facebook users can accept the challenge and read the books he read. Up to now, more than 163 000 Facebook users have liked the page.
