HK – “Step Out Blue House” Charitable City Orienteering Competition for Heritage Conservation I Sept 20

Background:

Hennessy Road, Lockhart Road, Queen Road East, Ngon Keng Kiu, Times Square …… Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are well known in the city. How much do we know about our communities apart from the shopping malls and high-rising buildings? We are just too used to spend our vacation in traveling abroad; in fact, wouldn’t knowing more about our city be a good choice?

“Step Out Blue House” is the first fundraising event of the St. James’ Settlement “Viva Blue House”(VBH) in the form of city orienteering. It will be kick-started at the Blue House and bring us to explore the mystery of the dugout and cemetery, to know the folks and to taste the heritages in Wan Chai district. All proceeds after deducting costs will be allocated to support cultural preservation and community engagement, as well as supporting the VBH revitalization project.

Program Details:

There is no set game route for the competition. Teams have to achieve the highest score by visiting various checkpoints which set in Wan Chai, Causeway Bay and Happy Valley. Score of each checkpoint is varied depending on the accessibility and difficulty of the challenge. Team with the highest scores in each category will be the champion. If more than one team having the same scores, the champion will be the team that completes the race the earlier.
