Abstract:
Dr Henry Hu, GBM, GBS, JP, Barrister-at-Law in Hong Kong. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy and a Diploma of High Studies in International Law and International Affairs from the University of Paris. As Vice-Chairman of the Reform Club, he was elected as a member of the Urban Council in 1965. In 1976, he was nominated to serve on the Legislative Council of Hong Kong.

In 1971, Hong Kong Shue Yan College ( and now the Hong Kong Shue Yan University) was found by Dr Hu and his wife, Dr Chung Chi Yung, a prominent educationist. The idea of an independent liberal arts college was first conceived in the spring of that year when Dr Hu and Dr Chung concerned over the acute shortage of college places for the local Form VI students aspiring after university education, made up their minds to establish an institution of higher learning for the benefit of the youths and in the interests of our society as a whole.
