Cate Blanchett is an Australian actress and theatre director. She has received international acclaim and many accolades, including two Academy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and three British Academy Awards.
Apart from her outstanding performance in work, Blanchett is keen on environment protection and supporting human right. She is a patron of the development charity SolarAid. In 2006, Blanchett joined former US Vice-President Al Gore’s Climate Project and under his influence, Blanchett became the ambassador for the Australian Conservation Foundation in 2007. She was made an honorary life member of the Australian Conservation Foundation in 2012, in recognition of her support for environmental issues.
In January 2014, Blanchett took part in the Green Carpet Challenge, an initiative to raise the public profile of sustainable fashion, founded by Livia Firth of Eco-Age. Blanchett is a patron of the new Australian Pavilion in the Venice Biennale, and spoke at its opening at the Venice Giardini in May 2015.
In 2016, Cate Blanchett was appointed UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador and she joins the UN Refugee Agency at a time of unprecedented crisis as nearly 60 million people are displaced worldwide.
