Bollywood actor Aamir Khan becomes the forth Bollywood star to grace the cover page of Time magazine after Aishwarya Rai Bachachn, Parveen Babi and Shah Rukh Khan. He is featured on the cover with the caption Khan’s Quest. The blurb says – He’s breaking the Bollywood mould by tackling India’s social evils. Can one actor change a nation?
Aamir Khan met Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in July 2012. Khan asked for the meeting and wanted to request the PM to take decisive action on issue of manual scavenging.
In a recent episode of his show “Satyamev Jayate”, Aamir had focused on the life of manual scavengers who are considered as untouchables by many in the society.
In June 2012, Aamir had made a presentation before parliamentary panel on FDI in pharma sector. He has been discussing various medical and social issues on his show like female foeticide, child sexual abuse and domestic violence.
Can one actor change a nation? We will see.
