Background: Hong Kong is the very first Asian city to host Canstruction® charity event in 2012. Canstruction® was founded in the US in 1992 and to date has raised over 40 million pounds of food since its inception. It combines creativities, team spirit and philanthropic mind to raise fund and canned food for people in need. Participating teams showcase their talents by designing giant sculptures made entirely out of canned foods. At the close of the exhibitions, all of the food used in the structures is donated to local food banks for those in need. Food Angel is a food rescue and food assistance program launched in 2011 by Bo Charity Foundation with the mission of “WASTE NOT, HUNGER NOT.”

Canstruction® Hong Kong is a talk of the town charity event organised by Food Angel and supported by Prudential Hong Kong Limited this year. Combining creativity, team spirit and philanthropic mind, the event aims to raise not only canned food but also a wider public awareness of people in need across Hong Kong.
