Good design can make the world a better place!
IKEA unveiled its newest global village, a solar-powered shelter that provides refugees and natural disaster victims emergency housing.
This new flat pack is made with the collaboration of IKEA Foundation and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNCHR) that allows immediate emergency shelter for those in need. Before its collaboration with IKEA, the UNCHR only provided tents and mass shelter for victims but now they are also able to provide a place for their own that includes both comfort and privacy for the victims. The new shelter allows a five-person accommodation and self-electric generation because of the solar-paneled roofing.
