Details: “Habitat Challenge Day 2012” aims to support our house restoration and mitigation projects in Hong Kong and China. This annual event will be held on 9th December 2012 (Sun), starting from Tung Chung and ending at Tai O for 14km.
Background: The Tai O Stilt House symbolizes the local historical culture in Hong Kong. The remark and value were lost gradually due to the lack of renovation and development of the society, these especially affect the elderly living there. May 2010 to June 2012, Habitat for Humanity China successfully completed the Tai O restoration project to help these elder groups, solving the immediate and potential structural problems of these stilt houses.
